Dr. Jawad Bashir
FRCP (UK), FRCP (Edin), CCT in Endocrinology and Diabetes, MRCP (UK), MRCP (Endocrine), PG Diploma in Diabetes.
Dr. Jawad Bashir is a UK-trained Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetes Specialist at King’s College Hospital London, Dubai. He has received recognition for his work, including first prize from the Royal College of Physicians UK for a quality improvement project in inpatient diabetes care (2016/17) and a runner-up award for his contribution to trainee education. His academic roles include Associate Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University, UCL Medical School Examiner, Diabetes Educator, and Registered Tutor for the PG Diploma/MSc in Endocrinology.
Dr. Bashir is also actively involved in public medical education, running the Endocrinology and Diabetes Simplified YouTube channel, where he creates accessible educational content for patients, students, and the wider public, including content translated into languages he speaks fluently. He has a strong interest in technology, patient empowerment, diabetes care, and medical education.
Dr. Mustafa Jamal Ahmed
BSc MBBS MRCP FRCPI FRCPE
Dr. Mustafa Jamal Ahmed is a Consultant Nephrologist at King’s College Hospital London – Dubai, with nearly two decades of senior clinical experience in the UAE, including more than 15 years at the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre in Abu Dhabi. He trained in medicine and nephrology in the UK at King’s College and Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals and has developed expertise in cardio-metabolic kidney disease, diabetic kidney disease, and rare renal disorders.
He has made significant contributions to nephrology in the UAE, including performing the first kidney transplants at Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi and Al Qasmi Hospital in Sharjah, as well as establishing dialysis services and clinical protocols. His clinical and research interests include early detection and prevention of kidney disease, type 2 diabetes-related renal complications, APKD, IgA nephropathy, and FSGS, with several publications contributing to the field of nephrology.
Dr. Beena Hameed
MBBS, FCPS, MRCP (UK), MSc (Rheum), CCST (Rheum and IM)
Dr. Beena Hameed is a highly experienced Consultant Rheumatologist and Internal Medicine physician with over 30 years of clinical, academic, teaching and research experience across the UK, Pakistan and UAE. She currently practices at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital, Dubai and has held senior consultant positions at leading hospitals in Dubai and the UK, including King’s College Hospital, Dubai.
Her clinical interests encompass inflammatory arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic autoimmune and connective tissue diseases, systemic sclerosis, musculoskeletal disorders, and the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound in diagnosis and intervention. She is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Gulf Medical University and Board Member of the GCC Association of Immunology and Rheumatology. She has served as Principal Investigator on NIHR/EME-funded research projects and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, as well as presenting her work at major international rheumatology meetings, including those of the British Society for Rheumatology and EULAR.
